Scrum half Nathan Fowles, who joined Edinburgh on loan in February until the end of the season, has signed with the club until May 2016 while lock Alex Toolis has committed to the club for a further season.

Brought in from Sale Sharks to cover injury and RBS 6 Nations duty challenges, Fowles made his debut off the bench against Cardiff on 1 March and his first start came against Munster earlier this month.

Fowles said: "I've really enjoyed my time here so far, they're a good bunch of lads, great backroom staff and Edinburgh's an ambitious club. We've seen that in the last few weeks, going from the quarter-final through to a first European final for the club, which is massive and I'm excited to be part of it."

Brisbane-born Toolis, who along with twin brother Ben, signed Academy contracts with Edinburgh in summer 2013 and had graduated to the full-time pro ranks by the end of that season, is delighted to extend his stay.

"I'm back in Edinburgh, training hard and looking forward to taking this opportunity with both hands," he said."
