Gala back-row Gary Graham has secured a deal with Greene King IPA English Championship side Jersey until the end of the season.

Graham, the son of former Scotland prop and current Gala head coach George, has been a standout performer for the Maroons in recent years. He played in the final as they won the Scottish Cup in 2012 and has four Scotland Club XV caps to his name.

The move will give him the chance to try and prove himself at the pro level and, should he do well in the next few months, there is a chance that he will be kept on for the 2015/16 campaign.

Graham, 22, said: "It has all happened really quickly. I got a call from my agent and then the Jersey head coach on Monday morning saying that they needed me right away.

"I talked it over with my dad and my girlfriend and they told me to go for it and it will be good to get down there and give it my best shot. You have to take these chances when they come along."

At Jersey, Graham will team-up with former Scotland under-20 cap Nick Campbell who has been there since 2013. Jersey are currently eighth in England's second tier, but have won their last two matches against Doncaster Knights and Nottingham.

Other Scots who have played for the club include Glenn Bryce, now with Glasgow Warriors and Heriot's, who was there between 2011 and 2013.
