GLASGOW Warriors hope to learn today whether Sean Lamont will be fit for the crucial Heineken Cup showdown with Cardiff Blues at the Arms Park on Friday.

The Scotland internationaist is a major doubt after being stretchered off with a serious-looking ankle problem during the Pro12 triumph over the Ospreys at the weekend.

A Warriors spokesman last night confirmed the veteran utility back is due to undergo a scan but not until the swelling does down.

Glasgow need to beat the Blues in Cardiff and repeat the feat at Scotstoun the foliowing week to have any chance of going through to the Heineken knock-out stages as group winners.

They must also pick up points in their last two group fixtures against Exeter Chiefs at Sandy Park and champions Toulon at home.
