Scotland forward Rob Harley is in danger of missing the start of the RBS 6 Nations after his club side Glasgow Warriors ruled him out for "several weeks".

The flanker suffered knee and ankle injuries in last Saturday's 16-6 win over Edinburgh following a collision with Dark Blues team-mate David Denton.

With Scotland set to open their championship campaign against France in Paris on February 7, the 24-year-old now faces a race against time to make himself a part of Vern Cotter's plans.

However, Warriors are understood to be relieved the damage is not as bad as first feared. A spokesman for the Scotstoun outfit said: "Following a scan at BMI Ross Hall Hospital it's been confirmed that Rob Harley has tissue damage to both his left knee and left ankle.

"However, he does not require surgery and is likely to be sidelined for several weeks.

"Several other players are undergoing further assessment and investigation.

"The club would like to thank the radiology department at BMI Ross Hall Hospital for all their help this week."
