Murrayfield Wanderers captain Lisa Martin hailed her side's fighting spirit after they defeated Hillhead/Jordanhill in a tight Sarah Beaney Cup final on Saturday.

A try with nine minutes to go from Scotland Women's international Lisa Robertson saw the Edinburgh side win 25-22 at BT Murrayfield.

Wandies were 17-0 up after 19 minutes, Rhona Lloyd running in two of their tries, but a converted score for Hills saw them go in just 17-7 down at half-time.

By the 49th minute the Glasgow side were level at 17-17 after further tries from Jade Konkel and Hannah Smith.

A penalty then put Wandies 20-17 up before Megan Gaffney's try gave Hills the lead for the first time.

That was until Robertson's late winner.

Stand-off Martin said: "It's a memory that's going to stay with us forever - it's not often that you get the chance to play on the BT Murrayfield pitch.

"We shouldn't have let Hillhead/Jordanhill come back into the match, but it shows the character that these players have to come back and seal the win."

Stewartry were also celebrating after they won the BT Plate earlier in the day 36-17 against Ayr.

Watsonians scored 44 points in the second half to win the BT Bowl 54-5 against Morgan Academy.
