Howe of Fife go into their own sevens tournament today leading the way in the Legacy Sevens Series after the first two events.
In the first event of five in Stirling on April 20 the hosts, Stirling County, defeated Howe in the final while the Fifers again reached the final at the Boroughmuir event last Friday only to lose out to a Samurai Scottish team including the likes of Ross Samson, Greig Ryan and Fraser Harkness.
It leaves Howe of Fife, who won last year's overall series, on 20 points, three clear of Stirling County, five ahead of Samurai Scottish and six clear of Glasgow Hawks. Samurai Scottish are not involved at Duffus Park, Cupar, today so the 15 points for the victors will be eagerly contested, with the hosts keen to retain the JR Gray Trophy. It was first contested in 1958 and Howe have won it on eight times since. They saw off Aberdeen Grammar in last year's final. Local clubs involved are Madras FP, Dunfermline, Kirkcaldy, Glenrothes and Dundee HSFP while County, Hawks and Boroughmuir are likely to contest the main prize.
