Lack of back-line involvement is Scotland's problem, not the referee's performance

The referee's pock-marking of Saturday's match with constant interventions was the main talking point for most but Scotland's players knew they had only themselves to blame for returning to losing ways after back-to-back championship wins.

It was time for self-assessment for Greig Laidlaw, once again the scorer of all Scotland's points as a new world record was set for penalty shots at goal. He, like Al Kellock and Matt Scott, identified the lack of action for Scotland's backs as a course for redress.
