NIKO MATAWALU has been voted player of the season by Glasgow Warriors supporters, the second time in his three seasons at the club that the Fijian international has won the top prize.

The 26-year-old scrum-half/winger, who is leaving for Bath at the end of the season, was presented with his award at a dinner in the city last night.

Matawalu came top in an online poll in which fans chose from a shortlist of six selected by the club's coaching staff. The others on the list were Jonny Gray, Peter Horne, Tommy Seymour, Josh Strauss and DTH van der Merwe.

Horne was named players' player, while Adam Ashe was young player of the season. A number of other individual awards were handed out.

Meanwhile, the Warriors confirmed yesterday that Connor Braid, the utility back, is to leave at the end of the season. The Canadian international went on loan to London Scottish in December but returned in February and was involved with the team during the Six Nations Championship.
