Edinburgh have signed Scotland internationalists Ross Rennie and Nick De Luca on contracts that will keep them at Murrayfield for two more seasons.

The signing of Rennie, who celebrates his 26th birthday today, is bound to be seen as the more significant as the flanker's outstanding performances in the RBS 6 Nations Championship are sure to have attracted the attention of clubs in England and France.

The 28-year-old De Luca's most conspicuous contribution to Scotland's Six Nations cause was to collect two yellow cards, but the centre is still rated as the best in his position in Scotland.

Edinburgh coach Michael Bradley said: "It's fantastic news for Edinburgh Rugby that players of the calibre of Ross and Nick have committed these crucial years of their rugby careers to the club.

"They've played some tremendous rugby this season, showing the commitment, style and professionalism that we look to foster in all of our players. Both will play a key role in the bright future being pieced together at this club."

Rennie, who has won 16 caps, and De Luca, who has made 33 appearances for his country, have both been included in a strong Edinburgh side which will take on Scarlets at Murrayfield tomorrow evening. Although the PRO12 match is effectively meaningless for Bradley's team, it is being seen as an important warm-up exercise for next Saturday's critical Heineken Cup quarter-final against Toulouse.
