SATURDAY marks the return of everyone’s favourite marine biologist.

After a lengthy hiatus, Amy Lou is back with a stack of tracks.

Star Wars Tattoo and Other Stories is the singer-songwriter’s third EP as she makes her highly-anticipated comeback.

The six-track launches today (Friday) and the 18-year-old is headlining the Monarch Bar in Dunfermline to celebrate on Saturday.

“It’s all about make ups, break-ups and marine biologists,” she told Press:ON.

“This EP is really packed with about two years worth of emotions.

“It’s all about my coming of age, moving on from past experiences and just realising that I’m going to be myself no matter what.

“It’s taken around four or five months for this all to come together and I’m just buzzing for it to be released now.”

Star Wars Tattoo and Other Stories follows on from her previous two EP’s, Her Imagination and Her Stories.

The former was launched at Fire Station Creative in September 2015, while Her Stories came out during the same month a year later.

Her early success resulted in her making the final three of the Dunfermline Press Live Music Award in 2016, before she was narrowly pipped to the crown by five-piece Dancing on Tables.

She’s not making her return this year alone, however.

The launch at the Monarch will feature “my backing band of marine biologists for the first time”, she adds.

“It’s also the first time I’ve really collaborated with other artists.

“When I play live, it’s just my voice and my guitar, but having them there for this launch means you can hear all the sounds like you would on the recording itself. It’s exciting.

“My shows are an experience.

“Sometimes my gigs feel more like comedy skits than live music!

“You may cry, you may laugh, and you may leave with Marine Biologist stuck in your head for a few days.

“I’m really proud of this EP and it’s definitely the best work I’ve done as a musician.

“Going forward, I would like to do more stuff with the band.

“I’m also looking to move my song-writing forward in a band setting.

“Personally, I’m also looking to work with other solo artists in the future to record and produce their own compilations and demos.”

Fans were given a sneak-peek of the record at one of her “favourite hiding spots in Dunfermline” last month as she performed an unplugged set at Little Shop of Heroes in Kirkgate.

Support for the EP launch comes from Leo McArdle and Emma Miller, while Messed Up Youth and The Decrees will both perform stripped back acoustic sets on the night.

Doors open at 7pm and tickets cost £5.

Star Wars Tattoo and Other Stories is available online on iTunes, Spotify and other streaming services.
