Tries from Steve Swindall and Struan Robertson gave Stirling a 10-8 first-half lead, with the Accies points coming from a Nyle Godsmark try and a Ruairdh Bonner penalty.
Despite massive Accies second- half pressure, which saw them held up on the line at least four times, the clock was running down on their hopes of moving out of second-bottom slot until Coupar's try in the 72nd minute.
