GLASGOW can bounce back from their European misery, learn the lessons and claim a morale-boosting Guinness PRO12 win that would put them top of the league - for a few hours at least.
So says Matt Taylor, the defence coach, who thinks home advantage and the lessons of the European Champions Cup can drive his side to success.
"We are back to our bread and butter, back to the league," he observed. "Munster are top at the moment but if we win this we go top so there is a lot to play for. One thing Gregor [Townsend, the Glasgow head coach] is very good at is learning from any losses and trying to get better every week. There is a lot to play for; we are at home, it is a top-of-the-table clash, so we are taking all the positives. We have a tough six weeks coming up but if we can do well, we put ourselves in a pretty good position."
The club are on the verge of selling the final ticket for the game - there were only 250 left last night - so it is certain to be another big occasion at Scotstoun, reminiscent of the PRO12 semi final against the same opponents at the same ground a seven months ago.
"We have gone back and looked at some of the plays Munster used that day; we have had a good look at some of the areas where we feel they exploited us," Taylor added. "We have James [Downey] who played in that game, so he has give us a bit of an insight to their thoughts when they played us in the semi final. We feel we have a good understanding of what they are thinking.
"A lot the clips we watched of the last game were Downey carryin so the boys have been having a good laugh. He has been good, he was there for a long time and can give us a bit of an insight of what they are thinking and maybe a bit of inside knowledge of how they play. It does not win you games but does give you certain advantages, even just reaffirming things I thought I saw, or pointing out see things I had not seen before."
Both teams are coming off the back of losing twice to French big spenders, Glasgow against Toulouse; Munster against Clermont Auvergne, so they share a common need to get momentum going in the league before European competiton returns next month.
