Galashiels Academy 15,

St Aloysius' College 19

ST ALOYSIUS' College retained the Bank of Scotland Schools' Cup by

beating Galashiels Academy in a repeat of last year's final at

Murrayfield. The Borderers, too light in the scrums, and out-jumped in

the lineouts, put in a brave performance, notably with their tackling.

In fact, they led 8-3 at the interval with a couple of fine tries scored

by scrum half Paul Peyton and left wing Gary McQuarrie.

St Aloysius' College were restricted to a Marc Falconer penalty in the

first half, but found their scoring form in the second half when, with

only a minute gone, full back Dave Blane completed a good handling move

by their backs.

Mark Craig scorched in for a second try, and St Aloysius' stretched

their lead with a third touchdown by their flanker Kieran Gilmurray. But

a penalty by Gala's full back Scott Robertson temporarily cut the lead

which was restored when Falconer ran in St Aloysius's fourth try.

Just on full time, a break by Gala's stand off Gregor Townsend was

converted into points when Alistair Gray forced his way over for a try

and the final score of the match.
