A TRY in the final minute by Marr centre Timmy Graham gave the Troon
school their second victory in the Bank of Scotland Scottish Schools Cup
final at Hughenden yesterday.
The kicking of Robert Young and Mark Emond helped Marr to turn round
8-0 ahead.
St Aloysius' lost captain Neil Murray because of injury after only
eight minutes. He was replaced by Nigel Scullion. And 10 minutes later,
a scrum 10 yards from the Glasgow school's line ended with Ken Palmer
picking up and driving over. Mark Emond missed the conversion but landed
a penalty three minutes later.
Marr, however, were gaining in confidence, and full back Andrew Watson
dropped a goal 20 minutes from the end to increase their lead to 11
points.
Craig, on his opposite wing, opened the St Aloysius' account with a
try from his own break from 10 metres out after 18 minutes of the second
half and added his second try three minutes later when he ran from his
own half and in under the posts. McPhail converted.
The Glasgow school now had a one-point lead and they dominated play
until the final minute when a breakout by Marr from their own 22 ended
with Graham's winning try.
