East fife have signed former Raith Rovers striker Lee Dair and will include him today in their line-up at home to Stirling Albion.
Dair had played as a trialist for the Fifers and Partick Thistle but has opted for the Fifers whose manager, Steve Kirk, pointed out: ''Lee is a local lad and it is easier for him to come to us.''
As Dair attempts to get on target for his new club, one of the division's top strikers, Alex Bone, will be in action at the other end.
Although player-manger John Philliben is still out with a calf injury, bustling Gavin Price is back in attack after an injury absence.
Alloa manager Tom Hendrie yesterday was bemoaning the fact that he has failed to bring in newcomers to boost his injury-hit side.
He said: ''We are being priced out of the market since we played Rangers in the League Cup at Ibrox. Other clubs think we have this huge pool of money sitting here and when we go after players in the third division we find the price is suddenly #20,000 and #30,000."
He will have to rely on a squad without the injured Lloyd Haddow and Mark Donaghy today against visitors Queen of the South.
The Palmerston club's manager, Rowan Alexander, last night was attempting to sign a young striker from a first division club because experienced Queens man Ken Eadie is doubtful with a hamstring problem.
Partick Thistle have recalled teenage defender Jamie McKenzie who was on loan to Cowdenbeath and might include him along with Craig Flannigan and David Kennedy in their line-up at home to leaders Livingston, who will miss central defender Sean Sweeney, out for three months after an Achilles operation.
Striker David Bingham has a cheek injury and Livingston will make a late check on him.
Second-top Inverness add Ross Tokely to their squad for the visit to bottom club Forfar, while Clyde are on a winning run and their general manager, Ronnie MacDonald, is unlikely to make changes for Arbroath's visit.
