A 16-year-old youth appeared in court yesterday charged with a triple murder after the bodies of three men were found in a Glasgow flat.

Ian McAlinden's mother Edith McAlinden, 37, appeared in the same court last week charged with murdering one of the men at the flat in Dixon Avenue, Govanhill.

Mr McAlinden, whose address was given as a hostel in Pollokshaws Road, appeared in private at Glasgow Sheriff Court charged with murdering Ian Mitchell, 67, David Gillespie, 42, and Tony Coyle, 70.

Ian Sievwright, his solicitor, said later that the teenager made no plea or declaration and was remanded in custody.
