WALTER Smith stiffened at the not unreasonable suggestion that Rangers’ imminent Champions League Group G campaign may be his last waltz with the European aristocracy.
At 61 years old and with his contract due to expire in January, albeit certain to be extended until the end of the season, the Rangers manager could conceivably be entering the final chapter of an extensive if not always satisfying record of achievement abroad.
