Andy Murray v Bernard Tomic

THE World No 3 will be back on court at the Emirates Arena at 1pm, some 18 hours after he finished up in his epic doubles outing, to contest the singles rubber which could book Great Britain's first Davis Cup final since 1978. Who stands on the opposite side of the net is not quite as clear. While Wally Masur, the Australian Davis Cup captain, could theoretically substitute him up until one hour before the start time, potentially to allow perennial scrapper Lleyton Hewitt one last live rubber before his retirement, the his opponent will most likely be Bernard Tomic, the World No 23 and supposedly reformed Aussie wild child who was stretched to four sets by Dan Evans on Friday. Murray has won both of the two previous meetings between the two men, and assuming his physical condition is okay, there was nothing from Tomic on Friday to suggest that a third win won't be on the cards. "Obviously Andy is playing amazing tennis," said Tomic. "He has been playing so well the last five or ten years. But I have to believe I can play well. I have nothing to lose. It is a great opportunity for me."

Dan Evans v Thanasi Kokkinakis

IF all goes to plan this one could be played as a dead rubber, with possibly Kyle Edmund or James Ward substituted in to give them match practice. If all goes the other way, however, then the 25-year-old Brummie and World No 300 will have his hands full attempting to stave off Kokkinakis, or alternatively veteran scrapper Hewitt or the big-serving Groth with the entire tie hinging on a desperate fifth rubber. Evans has never met Kokkinakis, Groth or Hewitt in competitive action, and he wouldn't be the favourites against any of them. "Right now it says Thanasi is playing so that is what I will do until I hear otherwise. The way I played on Friday shows that I can play at that level, and right now I need to get in the mindset that I am playing on Sunday." "My confidence is shaken a little bit," said Kokkinakis after his 6-0, 6-3, 6-0 defeat to an imperious Andy Murray, "but you have got to stay resilient. I think I can bounce back from my defeat against Andy, I just need to stay ready."
