Andy Murray was last night forced to withdraw from next week's French Open after failing to recover sufficiently from an ongoing back problem which was exacerbated during the Rome Masters last week.
When Rafael Nadal arrives in Paris for the French Open, he will do so as the No.4 seed, having regained that ranking thanks to an exhilarating 6-1, 6-3 win over Roger Federer in the final of the Rome Masters yesterday.
