THE fury of Ivo Karlovic has passed, at least for Andy Murray.

Now the 25-year-old Scot faces a more traditional opponent in the shape of Marcos Baghdatis, who progressed to the third round

when his opponent, Grigor Dimitrov of Bulgaria, retired because of injury when trailing

7-5, 4-1.

The 27-year-old Cypriot is ranked 42nd in the world and the intrigue in this match will be prompted by the way Baghdatis can play brilliantly and terribly all in the one set, and the fact he is coached by Miles Maclagan, who was once in Murray's corner."When I played him last year in Tokyo it was a little bit weird having Miles there," said Murray. "I played him again in Brisbane and felt much more comfortable playing against him. I wouldn't have thought it would have any bearing on this match."Murray will practise today to face a different kind of challenge than the one posed by 6ft 10in Karlovic. Baghdatis is a trickier opponent with a greater range of shots. "The Karlovic match was very explosive, " said Murray. "There were very few rallies. A lot of it is just reaction, whereas I'm sure there will be a lot more longer rallies against Marcos and there won't be periods in the match where I can't get into his service games or I'm not touching the ball."Marin Cilic, who is in Murray's section of the draw, last night cruised through in three sets – 7-6 (7-4), 6-2, 6-1 – against Lukasz Kubot of Poland.
