There was double disappointment for Scotland's doubles players at Wimbledon yesterday.

While Jamie Murray and his Australian partner John Peers lost a heart-breaker to No.2 seeds Alexander Peya of Austria and Bruno Soares of Brazil by a 6-3, 6-7 (2), 7-6 (3), 3-6, 6-3 score, there was dismay for Scotland's Commonwealth gold medal-winning pair of Colin Fleming and Jocelyn Rae in the mixed too.

They went down 6-4, 7-5 to the competition's No.7 seeds Rohan Bopanna of India and Andrea Hlavackova of the Czech Republic.

"Things have been good for us the last two or three months, we have been winning a lot of matches, but still if we want to push on then I guess we have to find a way to beat those guys," said Murray afterwards.

"We are getting closer. We want to win Grand Slams just like the singles guys want to win grand slams. Whether it is here or at another slam, it doesn't really matter."

Murray was back on court with partner Casey Dellacqua in the mixed event later in the day, a match which was tied at one set all, 7-6 (8), 6-7 (5), against Jesse Galung and Andreja Klepac when the gloom descended.

"It is what it is," said a disappointed Fleming after his defeat. "We played against a tough pairing. Rohan was serving lights out and the girl was a good solid player."
