How Djokovic went from Murray marathon to Nadal epic . . .

It was a meticulous recovery programme, customised and refined for his specific needs, that allowed Novak Djokovic to triumph in the longest grand slam final in tennis history only 48 hours after another marathon encounter with Andy Murray.

It took almost six hours for Djokovic to overcome Rafael Nadal in Sunday's Australian Open final, having spent almost five hours on court with Murray in the semi-final, but the time spent in between the two matches was planned to maximise his recovery.
