Lleyton Hewitt close to handing over baton to compatriot Bernard Tomic

Australia had a look at their tennis future yesterday as Bernard Tomic moved into the third round of the Australian Open; this morning they will get what could be a last look at the man who carried home hopes for the best part of a decade when Lleyton Hewitt tries to join him when he takes on Andy Roddick.

For the second match in a row, Tomic made a slow start but unlike the first round when he had to come from two sets down, this time he needed just four sets to ease past the big-serving American Sam Querrey.
