Andy Murray chose the genteel surroundings of the Hurlingham Club in West London yesterday for his last competitive outing before Wimbledon and announced himself satisfied with his form after recording a 6-2, 7-6 victory over the world No.11, Kei Nishikori of Japan.

The Scot looked in good nick as he gave the fans at the BNP Paribas Classic a look at his game as he tapers down before beginning his title campaign at the All England Club.

"It's good to get another match in," he said. "The courts here were a little bit faster than at Wimbledon, but I felt good."

Murray will be seeded No.2 at Wimbledon and will find out at today's draw whether he has the nightmare scenario of Rafael Nadal as his prospective quarter-final opponent. Nadal, the fifth seed, will face one of the top four in the last eight but Murray seemed relaxed enough, saying he will worry only about his first opponent.

"Obviously Rafa's one of the greatest players of all time but there are so many upsets it's rare that all the top seeds get through to the quarter-finals and semi-finals. I just want to be 100% fit and give it my best shot. If I don't win, it won't be for the lack of trying."

While Murray will head to Wimbledon now to get more practice on the All England Club courts, Colin Fleming and Jonny Marray will be chasing their first title together when they play in the final of the Aegon International in Eastbourne today.

The pair, who will be seeded ninth at Wimbledon, beat Marcin Matkowski of Poland and Freddie Nielsen – who won Wimbledon with Marray last year – 3-6, 6-3, 11-9 in their semi-final. However, any hope of an all-British (and one Australian) final was ended when Jamie Murray and John Peers were beaten 6-4, 6-4 by top seeds Alexander Peya and Bruno Soares of Brazil.
