JAMIE MURRAY sailed through his best man's speech at his brother Andy's wedding and he didn't fluff his lines during his second round men's doubles match at Roland Garros either.

The in-form Scot and his Australian doubles partner John Peers took just 50 minutes on Court No 17 to dispose of Santiago Giraldo and Dusan Lajovic by a 6-1, 6-2 scoreline. The 11th seeds now face 7th seeds Marcin Matkowski and Nenad Zimonjic with the winner assured of a quarter final place.

The elder Murray sibling said there was no pre-speech stagefright. "I wasn't that nervous doing it," he said. "I had some quite funny stories, it was just a case of telling them. I practised the night before with my wife but I don't like doing that, it was actually better speaking to a lot of people. I got a few laughs, that was the main thing. The big thing was the hanging around to do it the whole day, I couldn't relax."

While Jamie seems certain to be picked for the Davis Cup quarter final tie with France in London immediately after Wimbledon, a decision today will determine whether Aljaz Bedene can also feature. With the help of the LTA, the naturalised Bedene - who previously appeared in a dead rubber for Slovenia - is appealing a rule that you cannot represent two nations.

"I have absolutely zero against him," said Jamie. "But I think probably that if there are other guys of similar ranking to him that could make the team, I would imagine Leon [Smith, the Davis Cup captain] would probably be looking more to select them. If Aljaz keeps moving up and is clear No 2, it is hard to ignore him."
