But don't expect her to start talking up her chances of removing the reigning champion from this year's competition this afternoon on Court No.1 this afternoon.
To most observers, Kvitova – who Baltacha has played four times, winning over three sets at Torhout in 2008 – is in indifferent form, having crashed out of the warm-up event at Eastbourne at the first round stage, and requiring to rally back from a 4-0 deficit in her first round tie against Uzbekistan's Akgul Amanmuradova on Tuesday. But Baltacha is too canny these days to do anything other than play down her hopes of reaching the third round for the first time in 10 years.
