With the exception of Sam Stosur, who went out in round one unable to cope with the pressure of home expectation, the big guns in the women's event here have been on cruise control in week one.

Of the last 16 standing, there are six former Grand Slam champions and the current No 1. The cream really is rising to the top.
Five-times champion Serena Williams has dropped just 11 games in three matches, while 2008 champion Maria Sharapova has marched into round four at a cost of just five games. Last year's winner Kim Clijsters and No 3 seed Victoria Azarenka, both of whom were due in fourth-round action overnight, dropped 12 and eight respectively.
