Rafael Nadal will carry the flag of Spain at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games next month but in the light of his startling five-set defeat to Lukas Rosol under the roof on Centre Court on Thursday, it was suddenly legitimate to ponder whether the 26-year-old may need to raise the standard in more ways than one, at least when it comes to playing on surfaces other than clay.
