Tennis: Baltacha victory as Murrays exit

Elena Baltacha got Great Britain's players off to a winning start in their Olympic campaign yesterday, but patriotic fervour was dampened after Andy and Jamie Murray tumbled out of the men's doubles at the first hurdle.

The Scottish brothers were cheered on by a raucous crowd on Wimbledon's Court Two as they faced off against Austria's Jurgen Melzer and Alexander Peya.

The Murrays, who reached the second round in Beijing four years ago, edged the first set, but then lost the second on a tie-break to set up a tense decider.
