What is it with Kevin Costner and the US presidency? After sorting out the Cuban missile crisis in Thirteen Days and attempting the same with the Kennedy assassination in JFK, he pops up weeks before Americans go to the polls with a lesson in civics. Costner is Bud, deadbeat dad and disappointment to his principled young daughter. Through circumstances more unbelievable than the real-life 2000 poll shenanigans, he gets to decide who will take the White House. Well meaning, harmless, with winning performances, but lordy it's pompous. Kelsey Grammer looks the part of a prez, mind. Maybe he should challenge Kev in 2012.
