A second national Book Week will be held later this year following the success of the inaugural 2012 event, Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop has announced.

Both Rosemary Goring's column ("Courage and contempt expose literature policy gap", Herald Arts, September 22) and Hugh Andrew's subsequent letter (September 24) suggest that Creative Scotland's continuing support for writers and publishing has "thrown into the bucket" the recommendations of the Literature Working Group and, alarmingly, that Creative Scotland is "completely unaccountable" for its decisions.
