Having made his name directing commercials, music videos and The Cell, Tarsem Singh turns in another gorgeous wonder. In a Los Angeles hospital in 1915, heartbroken stuntman Roy (Lee Pace from TV's Pushing Daisies) is adopted by a fellow patient, five-year-old Alexandria (Catinca Untaru). To amuse the youngster, Roy spins a yarn about the Blue Bandit and his search for love the world over. Funny, bizarre, fantastic in every sense, The Fall is far more style than substance; it's often like watching back-to-back perfume ads. Yet there's a touching story of salvation at its core, and tiny Catinca Untaru, babbling fit to burst, is a joy.
