Police have named a teenage girl who died in a road crash. Kimberly Logan, 17, from Mauchline in Ayrshire, was killed when her Citroen Saxo was in a collision with a Mercedes van on the B743 Mossblown to Mauchline road on Saturday morning.

The van driver, a 39-year-old man, was not hurt in the accident, which took place at about 8.20am.

Strathclyde Police appealed for witnesses to the accident.

Miss Logan was the second teenager to die in road crashes in Scotland at the weekend.

On Friday evening, David Mulholland, 17, from Springfield, near Cupar in Fife, died after a three-car accident on the A91 Cupar to Melville Lodges road. His parents and three sisters were said to be devastated by his death.

Fife Police said the collision, which happened at around 7pm on Friday, involved a black Ford Fiesta, a silver Peugeot 106 and a grey BMW.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident and are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a black Ford Fiesta or a silver Peugeot 106 in Cupar between 6pm and 7pm.

Meanwhile, Strathclyde Police are also appealing for witnesses after a 16-year-old boy was struck by a Ford Transit van heading west on Great Western Road in Clydebank near Drumry Road at about 8.15pm on Friday.

The teenager was taken to Glasgow's Western Infirmary following the accident, where his condition is described as "serious".
