UK retail sales grow despite recession

UK retail sales grew at their fastest annual pace since May 2008 last month, despite the deep recession, official data showed yesterday, writes Ian McConnell. The Office for National Statistics said retail sales volumes rose by a seasonally- adjusted 0.4% in July.
