Third generation ethnic minority Scots are angry. In some ways that's healthy: where their grandparents were fearful and their parents perhaps reticent, they are impatient to claim their rights. In particular, they will not tolerate racist behaviour. It can take many guises. Young Muslims in Scotland say that after the 9/11 terrorist attacks on New York people would regard them with suspicion. After the July 7 bombings in London, white friends disappeared and customers stopped using their shops. Following the recent attack on Glasgow airport, there was an increase in racist crimes.
