A bronze skeleton created by sculptor Kenny Hunter was unveiled at Edinburgh University yesterday.
The statue, The Unknown, is being gifted to the university by its general council to mark the body's 150th anniversary this year.
The one metre-tall, white statue was unveiled at the Talbot Rice Gallery at Old College, South Bridge. It will be given a permanent home in a university building at a later date.
Hunter's works include Citizen Firefighter outside Central Station in Glasgow and Feedback Loop in Aberdeen Art Gallery. This year he has exhibited at the Tramway in Glasgow and the Scheffel Gallery in Frankfurt, and took part in the Busan Biennale in Korea.
