I began my career at the Motherwell Times after graduating in journalism from Glasgow Caledonian University.  From there I went on to report on the daily goings-on at Glasgow Sheriff Court before joining The Herald in June 2011.  I continue to have an interest in crime and legal matters.


  • Stirling Council's planning team rejected the application from McDonald's, saying it could have had an adverse impact on the promotion of healthy eating at the high school.

    The panel unanimously refused permission to build a new restaurant and drive-through at Springkerse Business Park in Stirling – just 300 yards from St Modan's High School.

  • Gordon McRae, 46, who also leaves two daughters, aged 18 and 13, and wife Lorna, was killed when a silver Mercedes travelling north-bound on the A8011 apparently veered out of control and hit the Ford Focus he was travelling in.

    His work colleague, Neil Harold, 34, who was driving the Focus, and the driver of the Mercedes, Greig Brown, 30, also died in the tragedy at around 12.45pm on Wednesday.
