Victoria Weldon

I began my career at the Motherwell Times after graduating in journalism from Glasgow Caledonian University.  From there I went on to report on the daily goings-on at Glasgow Sheriff Court before joining The Herald in June 2011.  I continue to have an interest in crime and legal matters.

  • Alan Pollock, of Stirling, was filmed intervening in a dispute between an elderly conductor and 19-year-old Sam Main aboard a ScotRail Edinburgh-Perth train on Friday.

During the video (which is shown above, via YouTube) Mr Pollock, a performance manager at finance firm BlackRock in Edinburgh, received a round of applause from fellow passengers after forcibly removing Mr Main from the train.

  • Badarmaine Garnett, of Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, faces a string of misconduct charges – including allegedly threatening other staff in a bid to stop them reporting the incidents.

Ms Garnett is alleged to have carried out the abuse at Sunnybank Care Home in Cruden  Bay, Aberdeenshire, between February 1 and May 1, 2008.
