A Who's Who of celebrities were at Centre Court to watch the nail-biting semi-final between Andy Murray and Andy Roddick yesterday.

Doctor Who star David Tennant cheered on his fellow Scot, while tennis legends Bjorn Borg and Rod Laver, who won nine Wimbledon titles between them, were also watching. Princess Michael of Kent, Lord Freddie Windsor and Viscount Linley were representing the Royal Family.

Legendary TV interviewers Sir David Frost and Sir Michael Parkinson sat beside each other, while News at Ten anchorman Sir Trevor McDonald, who has attended several matches during Wimbledon fortnight, was also watching the action.

Murray's mother, Judy, and his girlfriend, Kim Sears, watched intently from their usual seats in the players' box, alongside his four-man coaching team. His father, Willie, was also there to lend his support.

However, it was Roddick's wife, Sports Illustrated model Brooklyn Decker, who was celebrating after his victory.

Earlier, the crowd had been buzzing with excitement as the two players walked out on to Centre Court.

The first call of "Come on Andy" was met with some confusion and a response of "Which one?"

As Murray missed a shot the crowd let out a collective groan before a chant went up of "There's only one Andy Murray."

Following another miss, one spectator let out an exasperated "What are you doing?" and the fans were soon left shell-shocked as their dreams came to an end for another year.
