COMMERCIAL FEATURE: Around 12,000 IVF babies are born in the UK every year, and many more worldwide.
Members of CARE Fertility were part of the pioneering team that gave the world the first IVF baby, and to date we have helped thousands of people become parents.
Making babies should be one of the easiest things which people do - but things aren't always so simple. The human reproductive system is an amazing thing but there are many issues which can go wrong with it. CARE Fertility is the UK's leading independent provider of fertility treatments and our goal is to take people on a journey from infertility to having a family. We do this by staying at the cutting edge of our field and introducing many of the technologies and treatments that are now standard in fertility practice nationwide and worldwide.
We are based in England but many of our patients come from other countries - they travel to CARE Fertility for a number of reasons:
- Treatment is available immediately for those who need treatment with donor eggs or sperm as we have a wide choice of donors immediately available
- Our high success rates across all age groups
- Excellent levels of patient care
- Wide range of cutting edge treatment options, many developed by CARE scientists
- Our experience spanning over three decades
- Totally individualised approach to treatment plans
Fertility treatment is definitely NOT a one-size-fits-all type of medical discipline-quite the opposite and at CARE Fertility, we focus on an individual approach.
At CARE our investigations are unique to each patient and always thorough, ensuring that treatment plans are tailored to give everyone the best chance of a pregnancy.
Additionally, everyone in the CARE team understands how much fertility treatment means to our patients - we always remain completely focused on the individual needs of each and every patient, we never forget just what treatment means to you. This patient centred ethos is at the centre of everything we do.
At CARE Fertility we are also proud of the fact that we have been at the forefront of major research breakthroughs in the field for the last three decades. We are published in scientific and medical journals on a regular basis. Our latest paper was published in Reproductive BioMedicine Online.
Using Time Lapse Embryo Imaging with morphokinetic algorithms (selection models), developed by CARE scientists, we are able to predict which embryos have the highest potential for a successful pregnancy, thereby greatly increasing your chance of having a baby. We call this CAREmaps (morphokinetic algorithms to predict success). Using CAREmaps we have demonstrated a 56% increase in live births.
Inevitably, because of our novel range of treatment options and our unprecedented level of experience in the field of IVF, we've become a clinic for many ofthe difficult cases other clinics can't treat. And that has enabled us to think peripherally about what we do. We've branched out into genetics. We've given a whole range of opportunities to couples who weren't able to be treated elsewhere, from those who are fundamentally infertile to those who don't have a fertility problem but have a miscarriage problem, to others who don't have any of that but have a genetics problem - they don't want another child with a debilitating disease. It's about delivering what patients want.
And no area demonstrates this as clearly as our Donation Programme where we are fortunate to have one of the UK's most experienced donation teams dedicated to helping people become parents.
There are a number of reason why someone might need treatment with donor eggs - cancer treatments like chemotherapy or radiotherapy can affect fertility;significant numbers of women experience an early menopause, sometimes in their 20s.And for some women, there may be a genetic condition in their family which can be avoided by using donated eggs. The CARE Donation Programme provides a full range of options for couples who, for whatever the reason, need IVF with donor eggs or sperm.
We offer an Exclusive Donor or Shared Donor package, and also an Egg Sharing alternative. Our team has been proactive in recruiting egg and sperm donors and we now have a wide choice of donors immediately available. All of our donors are from the UK, and they have all passed stringent medical criteria.
Our Donation team in Manchester is headed by Julie Easton who has worked in the field for many years and has a strong reputation for the excellent patient care and impressive success rates which her team delivers. They were one of the first UK clinics to offer surrogacy as a treatment option and today their Donation programme helps patients from all over the world.
"Egg donors are amazing women. To help someone have a precious child of their own is a wonderful gift. Our patients who need treatment with donated eggs are so grateful."

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
