COMMERCIAL FEATURE: a stunning building in the heart of the city, which up until now has been used almost exclusively by the medical profession, has opened its doors to the wider community.

Fifteen Ninety Nine is set to become one of Glasgow’s leading venues for corporate functions, weddings and private dining.

The new venture has been made possible by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, which was founded in 1599 and owns the buildings from which the business Fifteen Ninety Nine will operate at 232-242 St Vincent Street.

The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow is a membership organisation for the healthcare professions. It is the only multi-disciplinary Royal College in the UK.

Its membership, which exceeds 10,000, includes physicians, surgeons, dental professionals, travel medicine and podiatric medicine specialists. The college provides career support to the membership through education, training, professional development, examinations and assessment whilst acting as a charity and leading voice on health issues in order to set the highest possible standards of health care.

Until now, the splendid rooms, which have been extremely well maintained over their 150-year history, have been used almost exclusively for private college functions, including the training and examination of physicians, surgeons and dental and travel medicine specialists.

Fifteen Ninety Nine will broaden the scope of this hidden jewel, opening the doors of the elegant building to businesses, brides and grooms, and private parties.

A selection of rooms within the building include the historic Lower Library, which contains some ancient medical textbooks, and the grand College Hall.

Immersed in history, each individually styled room offers a variety of spaces to cater for events from 2 - 200 guests, wiith original Rennie Mackintosh stained glass windows, striking Victorian fireplaces, a sweeping mahogany staircase and spectacular chandeliers.

The two lecture theatres offer the latest in conferencing technology in the heart of Glasgow. Ideal for conferences, large corporate meetings and presentations, the theatres are equipped with everything you need for a seamless event; fully equipped with wireless internet, flat screen TVs and an impressive key pad voting system.

An outstanding video conferencing suite allows presentations and communications to be sent across the UK and the rest of the world, in real time.

Each room has free wi-fi access, full disabled access, air conditioning, induction loops and a full range of technical support and equipment allowing guests to enjoy their experience in the most comfortable environment.

They have recruited an award-winning chef, Richie Holmes. He and his skilled team are dedicated to providing exceptional food and service. Food is their passion and they strive to provide creative and original menus using the freshest seasonal ingredients sourced from local suppliers.

From pan-roasted Loch Duart salmon to pistachio ice cream, canapés to crudités, finger to fork, they promise to create and deliver a food experience that will complement any event and ensure guests have an experience they will never forget.

The staff have years of experience hosting events for some of the most important and discerning guests from around the world which will allow them to provide a level of unrivalled service.
