Frederick (Fred) John Kennedy

Sad to learn of Fred's death. We knew each other when he was with Hill Brown and met on pre jazz gigs in the Horseshoe. Later when he was a distinguished first Glasgow Reporter to the Children's Panel we faced together many difficult circumstances as the new arrangements bedded in. Rumbustious is a good word for Fred and his ebullient rhetoric but he also had a keen eye on on the vagaries of the human condition and a steadfast commitment to improving the lives of others. I was sorry to lose touch with him and am sorrier still to learn of his death

end of an era---it seems but yesterday since we met in J3 GHS in 1949. Always a robust and rumbustious friend with distinguished public service for children in trouble. An unlikely native of Grantham ( and SNP supporter in his Gilmorehill days) with little in common with the other famous one. He will be missed.
