LAND REFORM (SCOTLAND) ACT 2003

TEMPORARY CLOSURE OF CORE PATH SA3: RIVER AYR WAY/ RIVER AYR WALK (NORTH)

The Council gives notice It Intends closing temporarily, to the public, that section of Core Path SA3: River Ayr Way/River Ayr Walk (north) described in Part 1 of the Schedule below. Temporary closure of the Path is necessary to permit Energy Agency Renewables Ltd (EARL) to construct a hydropower scheme at Nethermills Dam, in accordance with planning permission granted.

The affected section of the Path will be closed for the duration of the works, which are expected to commence on 26th April 2021 and last for approximately 39 weeks. On completion of the works, the Path will be fully re-opened to the public.

Persons wishing to access the River Ayr Way/Walk on either side of the closed section during the period of the works should follow the signposted diversion route described in Part 2 of the Schedule below.

For their own safety and the safety of the contractor undertaking the works, members of the public should not attempt to access the closed section of the Path during the specified period.

SCHEDULE

PART 1 - PATH TO BE CLOSED TEMPORARILY

That section of the River Ayr Way/Walk (north) to the south-east of the Station Road underpass, adjacent to Ayrshire College, from the mid­point of the College car park to the College building itself.

PART 2 - ALTERNATIVE ROUTE

Persons wishing to access the River Ayr Way/Walk to the east of the closed section should proceed eastwards through the College car park to the College access road; then south-eastwards along the said access road, to its junction with the path running roughly north-south, situated just beyond the eastern perimeter of the Dam Park Stadium; then southwards on the said path to its junction with the River Ayr Way/Walk. The River Ayr Way/Walk west of this junction to the temporarily closed section will remain accessible to the public, but with no through access.

Persons wishing to access the River Ayr Way/Walk to the west of the closed section should proceed in the opposite direction.
