They are the New Wave of Scotland’s film and TV actors.
We’ve put together a list of 50 young stars who’ve already taken their first steps in the profession and are aiming for the heights. They’re all under 30, were born or live in Scotland, and have at least one significant role to their credit already.

- Age: 20
- From: Although originally from Ireland, Shane now lives in Livingstone.
- Credits: Most famous as Connor Mulgrew in Waterloo Road. He has also appeared in the film Weaverfish and short, What Goes Round.
- Did you know: Shane originally auditioned for the part on Gus in Waterloo Road.
- Name: Johnny Pender
- Age: 21
- From: Bothwell. Graduate of Motherwell College.
- Credits: Most famous as Ben McManus in River City.
- Did you know: Ben presented Saturday morning’s wknd@stv with Kimberly Neill, who he went to college with.
- Name: Stephen Purdon
- Age: 29
- From: Glasgow
- Credits: Most famous as Robert ‘Shellsuit’ Bob Adams in River City. He has also appeared in Staked and Sweet Sixteen.
- Did you know: Stephen is a Glasgow Rangers fan.
- Name: Richard Rankin
- Age: 29
- From: Glasgow
- Credits: Most famous for his roles in Burnistoun and Videogaiden. He has also appeared in Taggart and Legit.
- Did you know: Richard stars in Burnistoun alongside his real-life partner Louise Stewart.
- Name: Omar Raza
- Age: 23
- From: . Glasgow
- Credits: Most famous as Sanjay Majhu in Radio 4 series Fags, Mags and Bags and his various roles in BBC Scotland’s Limmy’s Show.
- Did you know: Omar was the winner of the "New Horizons" awards in the "Scottish Minority Ethnic Achievement Awards 2011".
- Name: Sam Robertson
- Age: 27
- From: Dundee
- Credits: Most famous as Adam Barlow in Coronation Street and Flynn in Beaver Falls. He has also appeared in Bedlam, Being Victor and Push.
- Did you know: Sam is currently filming Dementamania, which is due out next year.
- Name: James Robinson
- Age: 29
- From: Glasgow
- Credits: Most famous as the young William Wallace in Braveheart. He has also appeared in BBC show Doctors (2009) and 2007 film Saxon.
- Did you know: James has just finished filming ‘The Walk’ and is now preparing to record the voice of the Red Hat in ‘Jacob and the Gnome’.
- Name: William Ruane
- Age: 27
- From: Glasgow
- Credits: Most famous as Brian Henderson in River City, Pinball in Sweet Sixteen and Rhino in The Angels’ Share. He has also appeared in Accused and The Field of Blood on TV.
- Did you know: William is set to appear in Kelly + Victor and Honour next year.
