Fittingly coincident with the celebrations of the Coronation of Queen Elizabeth II 60 years ago, the National Portrait Gallery in London has announced that three important pictures of her predecessors are to benefit from restoration work funded by the Bank of America Merrill Lynch Art Conservation Project.

This philanthropic arm of the US company was introduced to Europe, the Middle East and Africa in 2010 and extended to Asia and Australia in 2012. A Tudor portrait of Queen Elizabeth I in her early 40s is one of the trio of works covered by the grant, alongside two of King Edward VI, one of which shows him alongside the Pope and his father Henry VIII on his deathbed.

Now an Edinburgh institution, this year's concert will take place on Sunday, June 23, in the Reid Concert Hall of Edinburgh University at Bristo Square from 7.30pm and will feature music by Wagner, Tchaikovsky and Walton.
