WARRENMcIntyre, who has very fond memories of seeing legendary performer Nina Simone play a Mayfest gig in a tent on Glasgow Green in 1990, is the man behind a celebration of her music in the Strathclyde Suite at Glasgow Royal Concert Hall on Saturday March 21. McIntyre will be singing with a band directed by Stevie Jackson on Belle and Sebastian and featuring Allen Chalmers (piano), Adam Scott (bass), Heather Wellcoat (violin), Iain Stoddard (drums), John Rooney (guitar) and Therese Martin (harmony vocals). He is soliciting dedications from members of the audience for songs in the set, so if you have a Simone favourite, email him at warren2006@hotmail.com. He is also offering free tickets and a bottle of champagne to anyone who can produce a photograph of him dancing onstage with Ms Simone 25 years ago.
