Will Durst discusses LSD, OMG and hangovers.

Tell us about your Fringe show.

BoomeRaging: From LSD to OMG is a celebration of the maturation of the Boomer Nation. What happens when acid flashbacks meet dementia.

Best thing about the Fringe?

Everything about the fringe is the best. The whirlwind. The hangovers. The weather. The magical light of Edinburgh. The promise of immortality. The exhaustion. The educated punters.

Worst thing about the Fringe?

September.

How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?

This will be my 8th August in the Athens of the North.

Favourite Fringe venue?

The Wine Bar at the Gilded Balloon.

Best Fringe memory?

My first fringe when Carol Benjamin produced my show Myth America at the Playhouse.

Best heckle?

No such thing.

Craziest on stage experience?

Getting into an argument with an American about how bad a president Bush was.

What’s on your rider?

Coffee backstage.

How do you wind down after a show?

Two beers.

What do you love about Scotland?

Whiskey. Golf. Cheese. Kestin Hare. Pubs. Whiskey.

What do you like about Edinburgh?

The fact that NewTown was built in 1767. In America we get excited when we see a black and white television.

What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?

Haggis.

What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?

I love the Scottish audiences. They are my target demographic: people who read or know someone who does.

Favourite joke?

Q. What does a snail say when he rides on the back of a turtle?

A. Wheeeeeeeeee!

Will Durst will perform at the Gilded Balloon from August 5-17 and 19-31.
