Trygve Wakenshaw talks about a lack of salad and a dramatic heckle...
Tell us about your Fringe show
KRAKEN is the return season of last year's sell out award winning mime physical comedy show from a top performer. NAUTILUS is Trygve's newest show in a similar style to KRAKEN with mime and physical comedy childish lewdness, themes and a followspot.
Best thing about the Fringe?
To perform every night for a month.
Worst thing about the Fringe?
A definite lack of salad-on-the-run type eating situations. potato is a great vegetable, but sometimes a guy like me wants a green like brocolli.
How many years have you been coming to the Fringe?
This is my fourth year.
Favourite Fringe venue?
Summerhall
Best Fringe memory?
Writing answers to a Q&A while being massaged by a Swedish beauty and drinking diet coke.
Best heckle?
The most dramatic heckle was a drunk lad who stormed onto the stage during KRAKEN, pulled out a mime shotgun and fired it at me. He turned to the audience and shouted "have a good evening" and left. The audience were terrified and outraged.
Craziest on stage experience?
NAUTILUS was created with improvisation and is still continuing to develop which means that as i'm performing a scene my mind is aware and responding to the audience as well as figuring out where the show is going next and possible new gags or scenarios to come.
What’s on your rider?
Thankfully very little, I need my costume and my mind and body. that's it. NAUTILUS needs a followspot and someone who i think is very beautiful to operate it.
How do you wind down after a show?
I dance! I f##k!
What do you love about Scotland?
The way that it's once noble traditions and cultural parts have been monetised and make a source of ridicule or frivolity by outsiders who buy fridge magnets in gift shops. I have a feeling though that Scots are actually genuinely proud of their heritage though. Pride in the face of ridicule, that is what i like about scotland.
What do you like about Edinburgh?
Machina Espresso, 2 Brougham Pl, Tollcross, Edinburgh EH3 9HW.
What’s the most Scottish thing you’ve done?
Been drunk.
What kind of jokes do a Scottish crowd seem to respond to?
Knock knock jokes.
Favourite joke?
Jim Carrey in Ace Ventura. He's so incredible. I admire him.

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
heraldscotland.com is tackling this problem by allowing only subscribers to comment.
We are doing this to improve the experience for our loyal readers and we believe it will reduce the ability of trolls and troublemakers, who occasionally find their way onto our site, to abuse our journalists and readers. We also hope it will help the comments section fulfil its promise as a part of Scotland's conversation with itself.
We are lucky at The Herald. We are read by an informed, educated readership who can add their knowledge and insights to our stories.
That is invaluable.
We are making the subscriber-only change to support our valued readers, who tell us they don't want the site cluttered up with irrelevant comments, untruths and abuse.
In the past, the journalist’s job was to collect and distribute information to the audience. Technology means that readers can shape a discussion. We look forward to hearing from you on heraldscotland.com
