Fèis Rois is hosting concerts featuring musicians from Melbourne Scottish Fiddle Club in the new Ullapool Harbour Ferry Terminal building on Saturday, September 19 and Ironworks in Inverness on Sunday, September 20.
The Australian fiddlers’ visit comes as a result of Fèis Rois developing links with the Scottish diaspora in Australia, with musicians from Ross-shire performing at the National Celtic Festival in Portarlington, Victoria over the past three years and returning the invitation with a shared concert at Celtic Connections in 2014. The Ullapool and Inverness concerts also form part of the Melbourne Fiddle Club’s twentieth anniversary.

Edinburgh promoters DHM Concerts present three evenings of music at the Queen’s Hall during October. Klezmer-jazz group Moishe’s Bagel reprise their soundtrack to the 1930 silent Soviet propaganda film Salt for Svanetia, with onstage screen projection preceded by a full set by the band, on Friday, October 9.
Accordionist Freeland Barbour introduces guests including fellow former Silly Wizard musician Phil Cunningham, concertinist Simon Thoumire, singer-violist Mairi Campbell and compere Billy Kay in a ceilidh on Saturday, October 10, and Irish singer Cara Dillon (pictured) and her husband and musical partner, Sam Lakeman appear in concert on Friday, October 16.

Edinburgh promoters Click Clack present their monthly triple bill of adventurous music on Tuesday, September 29 at Henry’s Cellar Bar in Morrison Street. The 37th Celtic Media Festival will take place in Dungarven in County Waterford, Ireland on April 20 to 22 next year, and yesterday entry opened for the event's Torc Awards for Excellence, which will embrace a total of 24 categories in 2016.
Film and programme makers, digital media and radio producers are invited to submit their work for the awards, where previous winners include such mainstream hits as Sherlock and Doctor Who.
The new categories in this year's awards are Comedy, Radio Comedy and Radio Magazine Show.
