PAISLEY will get an early taste of the third album by Mercury Prize nominated Scots musician C Duncan as he launches a UK tour in the Renfrewshire town.

With Health due to be released on March 29, he will play the first date on his Spring tour two weeks earlier at SAMA’s Takeover.

Having gone from playing basement venues alone to selling out 900-capacity venues within the space of a year, C Duncan’s live show will be with a four-piece band.

The first gig after the album release will be at Aberdeen's The Lemon Tree on April 19.

The Herald:

After a series of dates in England, he will play Edinburgh' Summerhall Arts Centre on May 10 and Glasgow's Maryhill Community Centre Hall the following day.

The album sees the Scottish multi-instrumentalist ditch his bedroom studio and work with other producers, engineers and musicians for the first time, including his mother and father Janina and Mark, two classical players.

“This was the biggest shift in dynamic for me,” he explains, “having always worked alone, it was a daunting prospect but one I knew I had to explore.

“Writing it was a very cathartic process. It helped me through a lot of tough times and also to celebrate the good,” he continues.

The 29-year-old will release Health four years after the Mercury Prize nominated debut Architect and the follow up The Midnight Sun.

“With album three I wanted to take a more direct approach, adding even more layers but thematically and lyrically laid bare.

"Having someone else to bounce production ideas off was really eye-opening for me. In the past I had been very controlling about how everything would sound but Health really showed me the benefit of working with others and made the whole process much less isolating,” he explains.
