THE GRINCH is coming to Glasgow to steal Christmas at the end of this year.
The Broadway success story How The Grinch Stole Christmas! - The Musical is set to appear at Glasgow’s Armadillo.
And the arrival of the musical is seen as a coup for the city.
Dr Seuss’s famous children’s tale debuted on Broadway in 2006 and broke box office records for two consecutive years.
Since then, more than two million people across America have watched the heart-warming show.
And the New York Times describes the musical as “a hundred times better than any bedtime story.”
A spokesman for the production said; “Mel Marvin and Timothy Mason’s music and book breathe new life into this timeless story.”
He added; “Magnificent sets designed by John Lee Beatty and costumes designed by Robert Morgan are inspired by Dr. Seuss’ original illustrations and help to transport audiences to the whimsical world of Whoville, and to conjure the true meaning of Christmas.”
The Grinch, whose heart is “two sizes too small”, and his loyal dog, Max, live a solitary existence inside a cave on Mount Crumpet.
His main source of aggravation comes during Christmas when his neighbours in Whoville celebrate the holidays with a bang.
When the Whos decide to make Christmas bigger and brighter, the disgruntled Grinch realises there is one way to gain peace and quiet.
With help from Max, the green grump hatches a scheme to pose as Santa Claus, steal Christmas and silence the Whos’ holiday cheer once and for all.
Featuring the hit songs You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch and Welcome Christmas, the show is narrated by Max the Dog.
The movie of The Grinch which was released last year.
It starred the voices of Benedict Cumberbatch and Angela Lansbury - and was said to be “enchanting a whole new generation.”
And it’s certainly aided box office for the musical.
UK producer Simon Friend said of the show ; “I am so thrilled that The Grinch will be stealing Christmas all around the country.
“The musical has been delighting audiences across the US for over a decade, and we have been lucky enough to secure some of the best theatres in the country for its UK premiere.”
He adds; “We can’t wait to see the UK going green over the coming year.”

Why are you making commenting on The Herald only available to subscribers?
It should have been a safe space for informed debate, somewhere for readers to discuss issues around the biggest stories of the day, but all too often the below the line comments on most websites have become bogged down by off-topic discussions and abuse.
